Cincy Decriminalizes Weed

Following in Norwood’s steps, Cincinnati City Council has agreed to decriminalize possession and use of relatively small amounts of marijuana.

The good news is that the Cincinnati Police Department will presumably no longer be searching your car for a few seeds to bust you with. The bad news is that weed is still illegal in the State of Ohio and is listed as a controlled substance by the United States. Still, it’s clearly a step in the right direction.

There are still plenty of questions surrounding the vote, like what about folks serving time right now for possessing less than 100 grams (that’s the new cutoff)? Can we walk down the street with lit joint? (Advisedly no.)

Here’s a pretty good take on where Cincinnati is at with regards to legal marijuana from WCPO.
